Albatross Fisheries | Line catching

Line catching

All bass is caught with rod and line, with either a single hook with trailed live sand eel or single lures.

On rocky areas of the sea bed we use double shads (lures) and at the beginning and the end of the season fishing in deeper water we use three to four lures.

Fish sizes average one and a quarter pounds to three pound fish and once caught are immediately put into slush ice and kept until packed into a chiller to ensure optimium freshness.

As opposed to trawled or gill netted catching methods, line has much less impact on bass stocks in the fished area as fish are not caught on mass.
